    The social work profession in Africa has had a unique and diverse history, which continues today. From the clan and kinship networks of pre-colonial Africa, to the introduction of colonial institutions of social welfare, and post-independence struggles to provide social support to the continent, social work is a product of these influences and, such practice is described primarily at the individual level. • Findings: Equality and fairness are fundamental aspects of social justice and are widely used by social work professionals in this research project to define social justice and are reflected in their practice. The two terms, however, are given a range of different meanings. SCIENTIFIC The special section in which we have collected documents that address some aspects related to gender inequalities in the workplace. Specifically, these papers address a gender bias in winning prestigious awards in neuroscience, b support for women in STEM disciplines, c women's concerns about potential, and b the essay on gender equality as a goal of social work. The narrative of gender equality in the global context has been extremely popular in social studies and media. However, while many people and organizations nationwide shed light on the issue of gender revolution, the issue itself remains complex and challenging for women.
